IPO Listings
7 Days Inn, a Chinese budget hotel chain, was successfully listed on the New York Stock Exchange in September 2009, at US$11/share, raising a total of US$111 million. Connect coached the top management team of the Board of Directors to prepare for their IPO roadshow in several key financial hubs like New York, London and Singapore etc. The Banker involved commented that several potential investors rated the presentation 'the best they had seen from China'. The team from all reports did an outstanding job on the road. The transaction ultimately priced at the top of the range and had a strong debut.
Sale of Banking Operations
Connect were engaged as advisors to a Global Bank who were selling their non-core operations in Europe, Middle East, Pakistan and Asia. We attended all Management meetings to formulate the strategy to approach potential buyers, provided guidance and insight to the country heads and management from each country/region, drafted the pitch decks and coached the management team for each country to facilitate their pitch delivery to interested buyers. The divestment proceeded smoothly over a 24 month period and the bank was able to sell the banking operations in each country as a going concern, rather than on the value of the assets, so achieving a better than expected return and clean exit for the bank from multiple countries.
Code of Conduct
Connect facilitated and delivered an updated code of conduct training programme for over 800 Asia Pacific based employees of the largest family-owned Private Banking and Asset Management group in the world. With Covid-19 creating major changes to how business was conducted, with staff working from home and the need to communicate with clients virtually, there was increased potential for breeches of the code of conduct. The programme served as a timely reinforcement for all staff to be fully compliant with client confidentially, privacy, security of information and other compliance issues.
Investor Pitching
Accenture’s FinTech Innovation Lab is Hong Kong’s premier fintech accelerator. Modeled on it’s successful New York and London bootcamps, Connect is a retained communication mentor for it’s international cohorts who stay in Hong Kong for the 3 month programme. Each year 10 fintech startups learn to develop, design and master visual and spoken pitches to programme patrons in the investment banking, retail and online banking community as well as private investors, VCs and early stage investors from Hong Kong and Asia. From speed pitching to final demo day, startups go through vigorous communication training workshops to get their propositions to the best possible launch point.
